- Thankful that I didn't hurt myself seriously when I fell this morning. I've often walked down those icy steps, particularly in winter, and envisioned myself breaking a wrist or an ankle. Some bruises and very sore muscles are much better than broken bones.
- Thankful for a quiet evening at home alone. Candles, reading, just generally being still in a way I'm not always good at.
- Loving those Belgian chocolate seashells that you can get at Christmas. So good.
- Another good day at work - what's up with that? and it was fairly productive too.
- Staring at my budget and knowing that it really is working, even when it means I can't buy plane tickets to either Ontario or California on the spur of the moment really good seat sale that showed up in my inbox today.
- (only one extra today): brief chat with a dear friend, and reminders of the odd ways I end up praying at times, and laughing at one particularly circumstantial phone call that came in the middle of our online conversation. It was good to laugh with her.

Daily 5 - Day 146
Today's Daily 5:
I Liked This
I liked this article at Brian's blog. I've been involved off and on with 24-7 for probably 6 years now, have had totally mixed feelings about them at times, have had some fabulous, and some truly awful experiences being involved with prayer rooms, but love this "The Vision is Jesus." Because that's a pretty important thing to have as our vision.
Progressive Stiffness
The good news is that my pants have finally dried and I'm no longer dealing with the discomfort of wet clothing.
The bad news is that the various body parts that I jarred while bouncing down five or six stairs this morning have grown progressively stiffer and more painful.
I'm feeling a new appreciation today for the lady I met on the c-train last night who was suffering from spinal injury, and her comments on how challenging it is to take the train at rush hour when it's packed out and avoid jostling her injuries, or being pushed and bumped into. As I consider my own coming commute home by train tonight with a stiff and aching back, shoulders, and neck, I'm wondering what that will be like as well.

Fall
Ironicly enough, I did a quiz this morning that told me my nightmare is falling. (I don't ever dream that I'm falling, though I've dreamt about being on the edge of precipices.)
I slipped on some wet, icy stairs this morning on my way to work and fell down half a flight before coming to rest.
My jacket (nice and long) flipped up instead of covering my butt, so I bounced through several puddles of muddy muck on my way down, and am starting the day off right with a very wet and rather dirty butt. It's terribly uncomfortable. It was one thing to be wet like this when I'd just crawled out of a swimming pool after demonstrating a synchronized swimming figure to one of my students, and was sitting on the deck, continuing the lesson. It's a whole other ball of wax when I'm sitting at a computer, in an office!
I'm pretty sure I pulled a muscle in my shoulder, because of the jerk from the bag I was carrying on that arm, and I think I'm going to have a fairly bruised hip, and just generally sore neck, shoulders and back for a few days. I may have also rolled one ankle.
As falls go, it definitely wasn't the worst winter fall I've ever had. And that is worth being thankful for.
Ah, well, at least the day can literally only go up from there!
