Daily 5 - Day 178

Today's Daily 5:
  1. There is a certain sense of accomplishment in the fact that I got behind the wheel of a car on my own again today.  It was hard, and will probably be hard for a while, but I made it.
  2. Thankful for my mom, who drove and/or let me use the car for a bit, so that I could get some errands done.
  3. Went for lunch with a good friend at "The Lazy Loaf and Kettle" - I haven't been there in years, but the sandwich I had was GREAT!  I don't know what it was that made it so fabulous, maybe just that I got to choose what went on it, so that it wasn't like a typical restaurant or store sandwich with stuff you don't like, but it was a really good sandwich.
  4. Got the new Sara Miles book "Jesus Freak" in the mail today.  Can't wait to read it!  Funny timing actually, given the anniversaries of this week.  Her first book was very life-shaping, and I actually finished reading it for the first time about two years ago to the week, on the plane back to Canada from England.
  5. A package came from my friend LP/CA today, filled with goodies that made me smile.  It came with my mom this morning, when we were headed out, and I waited all day (I've actually been waiting for several days, since it arrived at my parents' house a few days ago) until I was done all the necessary tasks and could really enjoy sitting and opening it, to crack it open and discover what she'd sent.  (Actually, there are unconfirmed reports that I may have giggled and squealed a little on discovering various things in the package, but they're going to remain unconfirmed, since I was home alone at the time!)
  6. Watching Banning Liebscher preach at the Jesus Culture Encounter conference tonight via live stream... loving that I can be part of this conference from a distance.
  7. Baked chocolate chip cookies today
  8. Got a bunch of errands done.  That feels like a big accomplishment these days, given my current lack of a vehicle.
  9. Did a bit of reading of the first book I'm reviewing for booksneeze.com
  10. T & L have a wedding date.  On May 16, I officially get a sister!

Daily 5 - Day 177

Today's Daily 5:
  1. Friday!
  2. Got through a ton of "to dos" without rushing around or feeling stressed tonight
  3. Freshly painted finger and toe nails
  4. Watching Jesus Culture conference from the comforts of my bed for much of the evening - loved the worship!
  5. Crawling into freshly washed sheets
  6. Did a budget update, to reflect the unexpected year end bonus from work that I got.  It's nice to have that blessing.
  7. Finished another audio book on my way home today - I really liked this one.  I'll probably post about it in the next day or two.
  8. Thankful that even on a day with hard memories again, this year I'm seeing the places where my heart is healing
  9. Listened to a great sermon on my commute today too.  There's something about someone who lives with integrity preaching the love of Christ that always stops me in my tracks.
  10. A candle lit in my oil burner all evening.

Friday, Looking Forward

I'm incredibly thankful that it's Friday.

I'm wearing a sling again today, giving my shoulder a bit more of a rest.

These are the things I'm looking forward to, the things that are making this "one more day" of work somehow doable.
  • The church in Redding, California that I love to listen to sermons from is hosting a conference this weekend.  And they're live-streaming it for free on their website.  I'm totally looking forward to getting home from work tonight, and settling in with some of my "to do's" for the evening, while watching the Jesus Culture conference online.  Love that I can be part of it from a distance.
  • There was a new episode of Grey's Anatomy on last night (and maybe a new Private Practice as well).  That means that at some point over the course of this weekend, I'll be settling in for an hour (or two) to catch up on my favorite television drama.
  • I'm wearing jeans at work.  And a hoodie.  so good.
  • I'm having my weekly lunch date with a coworker.
  • I had a mug of passion tea.
  • I had a meeting with a coworker this morning about a project that I was dreading tackling, and she decided it would actually be more suited to her position, and took it off of my plate!
  • I received a bonus cheque from work this morning - a little extra money right now, especially unexpected money, when I'm in the midst of moving and car shopping, is a special blessing.
  • I'm going to do my fingernails and my toenails, and put a clay mask on my face tonight.
  • I'm going to book a hair appointment - love getting my hair done!
  • I have a natural health treatment tomorrow morning that will hopefully aid in speeding my recovery.
  • I'm having lunch with a long-time friend tomorrow.
  • I'm moving the first load of stuff to my grandma's house tomorrow.
  • I'm likely going to get behind the wheel of a car for the first time since my accident tomorrow. (Okay, so not exactly looking forward to this, but will be glad to get it over with!)
  • I will crawl into bed tonight with freshly washed sheets and pajamas, and climb out of the shower to a freshly washed towel.

Daily 5 - Day 151

A palindrome daily 5 day on a fun palindrome date.

Today's Daily 5:
  1. Slow morning.  Emphasis on slow.  Think I crawled out of bed and headed for the shower maybe around 9:30 or so.
  2. A fun moment this morning in which I inadvertently got to see a dear friend do some unplanned sharing at her church on the other side of the country.  I hadn't planned to tune into the webcast, she hadn't planned to share her heart, but I tuned in just in time to see, and I was thankful to get to share that moment.
  3. House church gathering this afternoon.  I'm glad I went, though I can't say I picked up information I didn't already know about the issue of human trafficking.  It was a challenge, since almost no one from the house group I've been attending was there, meaning I spent several hours interacting almost entirely with people I'd never met before.  That was exhausting, but I'm glad I went if for no other reason than that I know the next monthly gathering will be that much easier to attend because I've braved it once already.
  4. Found a new cookbook of 30 minutes suppers from America's Test Kitchen at the health food store today.  I bought one of their books of 30 minutes suppers in the spring, and we've really liked almost everything in it that we've cooked, so when I saw a new one today for only $9, I of course had to buy it - especially given my goal of trying new recipes at least twice a month this year.
  5. feeling really pretty today in a new top and jeans purchased yesterday.
  6. my hair actually behaved and was beautifully curly today!  I love it when that happens
  7. I actually really have enjoyed reading the free monthly magazine from the local organic/vitamin store where I stock up on all my supplements.  Never thought I'd be excited about a magazine dealing with natural health, but I've become rather interested in the quest to get healthy again.  Plus, it's had some good recipes in it that I want to try.  In any case, I was thrilled to find a new issue while I was there today.
  8. I got kind of lost driving home from the house church gathering (I had good directions to get me there, but got a bit turned around leaving in the dark, especially since the neighborhood is one that is particularly unfamiliar to me.)  Getting lost wasn't a big deal tonight, though, since I was singing rather loudly along with a Jesus Culture worship CD.  It was nice to be driving alone in George and just unashamedly worship as I drove myself home from a time of being with other believers.
  9. Fresh baked banana bread ready for tomorrow
  10. Loving some skin care products from the Body Shop that I've been using for a while now.  My skin looks better than it has in a long time.
