Daily 5 - Day 23

Niagara Falls (from Rainbow Bridge)Image by Scott Kinmartin via Flickr

Today's Daily 5 (in no particular order):
  1. Betty Crocker Chocolate whipped icing - used this for the first time on a birthday cake I made for someone at work, and it was really good.
  2. days off confirmed at our office, booking flights and the buzz of excitement as L and I begin to figure out what we want to do and see while we're away (Niagara Falls is on our list...)
  3. 20% off members bonus day at the body shop - let me get some stuff I really needed, at double the usual discount
  4. help from my dad to assemble a little end table that has been sitting in pieces in our living room for several weeks, since the assembly of that particular piece had me stymied.
  5. the smell of a clean towel after my shower, and freshly washed pjs and sheets on my bed to crawl into tonight.

Flights!

My roommate and I are buzzing with excitement, since tonight we booked flights for a mid-october vacation!

We're looking forward to nearly 10 days away, in Eastern Canada, checking out the fall colors (which she's definitely never experienced, since they don't have fall in New Zealand, and which I've experienced in only the minor shades that we get here in Western Canada), seeing several good friends of mine, and just generally being tourists.

I was just telling her that I'm absolutely delighted that for the first time in two years I will have more than two work days in a row off, and that, also for the first time in two years, the trip I will be taking will have really absolutely nothing to do with some of the things that created so much stress in my life, and made life generally challenging. I don't think I can even explain how refreshing an idea that is - how it reinforces that I really am coming into a new season again.

What Iced Tea?

I've never had apple iced tea, in fact I'm not sure I've ever even heard of it, but the description is surprising true of me, and I laughed, because I've been bemoaning the heat we're having just presently for a couple of days now. I much prefer the cooler temperatures of spring and fall (just not winter!).

You Are Apple Iced Tea

You are warm hearted and generous. You believe it's important to make others feel comfortable.

You are a bit of a cozy homebody who feels out of place in the warm weather. You'll drink iced tea but you prefer the hot stuff.

You are more serious than most, and you shy away from superficial people. You prefer to look beyond the surface.

You like deep conversations, engrossing novels, and moving films. You find ideas and human interaction fascinating.
