Take the Mercy, Accept the Help

This passage encouraged me deeply when I read it yesterday, as I pondered some of the things going on in my life, and I wanted to share.

Hebrews 4:14-16 (The Message)
"Now that we know what we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God—let’s not let it slip through our fingers. We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin. So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help."

That's very encouraging - thanks for sharing, Lisa. So much of what we do and say as Christians gets in the way of focussing on Jesus, who he is, what he did, and what he is today. I'm less and less interested in church, and more interested in Jesus.

I just lent my copy of The Message to a Jewish friend who wants to read the Bible. She bought an NIV, but I thought Eugene's translation is so good, it's worth reading.

Yep, The Message is definitely great for someone with minimal exposure to scripture. I think NIV is great, too, though, or NLT.
