Daily 5 - Day 147

Today's Daily 5:
  1. Skype with A.  So good to catch up on life again.
  2. Cooked the first new recipe for my goal of cooking at least two new recipes a month for 2010.  Tonight I made steak with spinach couscous.  I think we'll definitely make it again, though I'll make a few alterations.  It was tasty.  I took pictures.  Pictures to follow at some later date!
  3. Driving to and from work - was nice to be back in my car, and to work on my Philippians memorization as I drove.
  4. A lovely quiet evening - after skyping, more time simply reading a magazine, and clipping bits and pieces for various projects or interests.
  5. Another good day at work - kind of odd to have so many good ones in a week, but I'm enjoying the balance of tasks this week.

Starbucks - Dubai Style

Have you seen this photo that's making the rounds on the web?  Someone sent it to me under the the title "The Best Reason Yet to Visit Dubai".  Now that's a Starbucks!

Achy

I am not a good sick person.  I have a tendency to whine.  Especially if I hurt.  And today, after yesterday's fall, and the subsequent tightening of muscles, I'm in a decent amount of pain.

But, life goes on.

I'm going to remind myself that I'm still very thankful the fall wasn't worse.

And I'm going to pray for the lady I met on the train the day before I fell - the one with the spinal injury.

I'm going to be thankful for some prayers that were answered, and some other things that could have been serious, but weren't.

I'm going to sip tea, do my job, prop my magic bags in alternating moments on the sorest parts of me.

And then I'm going to go home tonight and take a hot shower and return to my propped against many, many pillows position, and sip tea and move as little as possible.

Daily 5 - Day 146

Today's Daily 5:
  1. Thankful that I didn't hurt myself seriously when I fell this morning.  I've often walked down those icy steps, particularly in winter, and envisioned myself breaking a wrist or an ankle.  Some bruises and very sore muscles are much better than broken bones.
  2. Thankful for a quiet evening at home alone.  Candles, reading, just generally being still in a way I'm not always good at.
  3. Loving those Belgian chocolate seashells that you can get at Christmas.  So good.
  4. Another good day at work  - what's up with that?  and it was fairly productive too.
  5. Staring at my budget and knowing that it really is working, even when it means I can't buy plane tickets to either Ontario or California on the spur of the moment really good seat sale that showed up in my inbox today.
  6. (only one extra today): brief chat with a dear friend, and reminders of the odd ways I end up praying at times, and laughing at one particularly circumstantial phone call that came in the middle of our online conversation.  It was good to laugh with her.

I Liked This

I liked this article at Brian's blog.  I've been involved off and on with 24-7 for probably 6 years now, have had totally mixed feelings about them at times, have had some fabulous, and some truly awful experiences being involved with prayer rooms, but love this "The Vision is Jesus."  Because that's a pretty important thing to have as our vision.
