Fires and Homeless

Fires are still catching my attention.

And this article made me smile and lifted my heavy mood just a little.

HI Lisa
how are you? Sounds like you've been having a tricky few days. Do hope you are getting some better sleep. I know how much that helps me settle.

The fires are very bad. So many dead, thousands of people homeless, thousands of homes burned down. I read an article tonight that possibly million critters have been killed. Koalas are especially vulnerable because they move so slowly.

One of the fires is 40km up the road from me. But what a difference that 40km makes. I feel as if we whose lives are going on unaffected should be dropping everything and going out to help clean up, to cook and help people. But I'm a lawyer, not a counsellor, so I don't want to do things that won't help.

At the moment, we give money. The outpouring of community support has been incredible. Millions of dollars (like, AUD 30 million) in 2 days. People are giving toiletries, blankets, pet food companies are giving the RSPCA food for the pets.

It's all so horrible. It's hard to believe this is happening so close to home, and to people just like me.

I pray for comfort for the grieving, wounded and lost, and for miracles, that the lost may be found.

Bless you Lisa.

Jenny
