Headline for the Day
I found this article on a drug rehabilitation system that is an alternative to jail quite interesting.

I guess it beats sending drug addicts to jail, where they're just as likely to access drugs as outside and much less likely to learn new ways to deal or take them. The idea of having a family with both therapeutic and judicial powers to support and discipline someone struggling with addiction is appealing, but I'm afraid I remain somewhat skeptical that it is any more effective than the current drug treatment programs available. Drug Court is pretty picky about who they let in so their success rate may have more to do w/ strengths their participants already had than with the program itself. For any treatment to be effective the person has to be willing to admit that their behaviour is a problem and that they need assistance in changing it.
